NaBloPoMo Day 20 - Election Withdrawals

Day Twenty.

Is it just me? Or do you feel a little bit of letdown, now that the election is over? (Well, over for most - I guess for Al Franken, it will be a while.) Seriously, when all the commercials were popping up on each channel and the yard signs were cluttering yards, I was ready for the election to be HISTORY. But now? Now I'm having DT's.
I miss the media coverage the most, I suppose. It was truly insane, and more entertaining than I gave it credit for at the time. Every night, I would be sure to watch The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, in case I missed a media feeding frenzy. Often, I would learn many new adjectives in the process. Most of them akin to "colossal."

Somehow, the announcement of new cabinet members just doesn't give me my fix. A week of Palin interviews helped stem the tide of my depression...but now? Now...I'm in a funk.

Am I alone in this? Is anyone else experiencing this phenomenon?

The only thing I'm missing is the Daily Show and pics like THAT up there! LOL That one will go down in history. ;)

No - I'm glad its over - because now it's back to bad economy and crimerates.

But that picture of McCain? Is that for real? Did he really do that or is it a great Photoshopped one? I'm laughing regardless

Actually I don't miss the election all that much. It's nice and peaceful and no moron running for local office and running an ad with a lame attempt humor in it interrupting my TV entertainment.

But, we do still have the Hilladrama over whether or not Hillary will take the Sec of State gig. So, that should help with the withdrawals.

Real Live Lesbian - SO true! And the Daily Show just isn't the same...I don't think Jon can stand to insult Obama.

Karymn R - it's totally real...it was a moment after the last debate...there is another that is equally hysterical! And yeah - the economic crisis may be why I feel so low...

Jay - I forgot about Hillary...you're right! The Clintons are always good fodder for political drama...SCORE!

You are a sick, sick woman, Tigg. Two years of this hell were more than too much for me.

Desert Songbird - I never claimed to be anything BUT! At least we can say this - the money spent in the election is money that at least STAYED in the US economy!

I do miss it. It was a really good distraction during the first half of my husband's deployment. Now I just feel like the holidays are languishing in front of me - the time when there will be absolutely NOTHING in terms of breaking political news! ;)

Twisted and in need of a spank or some other form of torture...
This was the most painful excapade of two "professional" I had ever witnessed..
But the ads where funny and the pic is ROTFLOL, but that was my Id taking over again...

I'm definately in a funk. So are many folks I know. The darkness and cold this time of year is partially to blame (I feel like I'm in a fog), as is worry about the economy and the new administration. And the stress of the holidays... yikes.

No DTs for me. I was not at all excited about this election or the choices offered. The political commercials just made me want to throw something at the TV.

"My opponent is a poo poo head. Vote for me."

"My opponent has just called me a poo poo head. I feel I must respond. I know you are, but what am I? Infinity!"

Augh. How low can our society go? I guess if you were supporting Obama then this was exciting. He was the clear favorite as soon as someone, and exactly who is still being investigated, chose McCain on the Republican side. No one who votes Republican likes McCain, so it's pretty clear that something funny was going on there. For the rest of us, those of us who aren't fans of Obama or McCain, this election is about the complete handover of our government to one party and the choices that party is now making in selecting who is in charge. For example, Waxman is replacing a less radical Democrat over a very important committee. Anyone who knows anything about Waxman knows that this is an alarming development for the Democratic Party. It does not indicate good things. Still, we'll see.

The campaign is over. I'm glad. Now comes the rollercoaster ride where we find out just exactly what its all going to mean.

If you need a fix, watch Nancy Grace. She'll give you one. :D

Melissa - I'm watching every appointment with anticipation - so far, so good.

Mind of Madman - they make it so hard to run for public office, with all the examinations and 'vetting.' It's a wonder anyone runs at all.

Kila - yeah, the economy is making me rethink our holiday plans. At least the kid isn't too demanding this year.

Pamela - LOL! I hope we get a 'fat economic baby' in the months to come!

Memphis Steve - that IS scary...and I hadn't heard about Waxman. And I feel anxious...but in a good way, I guess.

Moi - WHOA. Can you cause a fuss? That just seems SO WRONG.

Junebug - Nancy Grace? OMG..I just can't watch her...she aggravates me to a large degree.
