NaBloPoMo Day Three - Fun Monday Reasons

Day Three.

Our Fun Monday hostess is Bee Dancer, who wanted to know WHY we blog...and then wanted a photo that represents the area in which we live.

The reason I started this whole blogging thing was simple; I did it for her:
I wanted her to be able to look back, long after I am gone, and read my thoughts and concerns and maybe get a laugh out of the perspective of her mother. I also want her to take comfort in the fact that NO, you DON'T have to have everything in life figured out when you are 30...or 40. I figure my ramblings and questions would help her see that. Now that she is 14-almost-15, she thinks she knows it all and that her parents are woefully ignorant...we all know the perspective of a teenager, right? Then again, I am blessed with a pretty good kid. We have an awesome relationship. And something I didn't expect? She actually reads my blog from time to time.Something else I didn't expect was her propensity to rock the fangs every Halloween.

As for a photo of my area? I love the mountains here. They aren't the Rockies, but their natural beauty during every season bring me peace. Now go visit the other participants!

I wonder how many of us do it for our kids? That's why I started.

And yes, your daughter TOTALLY rocks those fangs.

I wish I had that kind of view near me. We don't have mountains (or even really big hills), but we've got the Gulf of Mexico if we're willing to drive a bit.

Oh wow! Is that ice on the trees overlooking the mountains?? how majestic! I love the picture of your daughter. That is so neat that she reads your blog!

Ooh. My son would love those fangs. Of course, I could barely get him to put anything resembling a costume on this year. He finally wore a sweatshirt with bones on it. My daughter on the other hand, would probably like me to do her eyes like your daughter's every day. :)

I think yours is a great reason to blog. I love the halloween photos of your daughter and your mountain picture is beautiful.

I never think of Alabama as having frost! It's beautiful though. And so is your daughter - fangs and all! :)

I picture my boys reading my blog someday, too, like a journal of their childhood.

Your daughter is only 14?! I seriously thought she was older. Great kid :)

beedancer - I'm hoping she will learn to appreciate me, at least in retrospect.

the church lady - thank you! And YES, that is ice...courtesy of some fog that was blowing in, and freezing on the trees!

melissa - I have to make sure The Offspring doesn't have her eyes like that every day - b/c she would go to school like that if I let her!

chrisb - many thanks - and I hope to be blogging for a long time to come.

lala - actually, I'm in Arkansas...and we get SNOW, too! I'm ready for LOTS this year.

kila - LOL! Yeah - just her attitude is 25. She'll be 15 in less than two months!

kaytabug - she'll be stoked to hear that, b/c she reads the comments, too!

alison - thank you...and in a way, I'm kinda glad the kid doesn't comment on my blog...it might be too shocking! Then again, I might let her guest post.

My first blog i started for my children, my second just for me. I think we live parallel lives. My girl dressed as a western bargirl (slut) for Halloween.

grace - we do have a lot of fun! And I hope our relationship survives her teen years.

spellbound - we most probably do! I need another blog, just for me...that the daughter and her friends don't know about!
