If you follow me at all on Twitter, you may have read a tweet or two about band practice. This is for reals, ya'll.
When we designed our home, one of our requirements was a music studio...part of the house, but over the garage. This portion of our home has extra insulation, and eight-foot walls, so that Roger can hang his guitars there. I was able to snap a quick photo from my cell phone one night:This was taken at an impromptu practice...the sleeping bag hoisted on the wall is for baffling. You can't really see it, but there is a monster monitor on the bottom right hand corner of the photo. Our lead singer is going thru song lists and lyrics in the middle of the photo, sitting down.
I've been a musician all my life...but there is a man playing the digital piano who is FAR more talented than me. I just fill in as a backup vocalist for the real talent in the group.
We are NOT playing country. No gospel. But we are having organized band practices, every Friday night...and by next Spring, we may be ready to go live. After only two months, we have four songs down almost to perfection. Now we are working on our next set. We have practice for sure tonight!
Any suggestions for songs you would like to hear? And feel free to guess what music we've dabbled with so far!

My neighbor is in a rock band. They know 4 songs and they play them over and over again. But they invite me over to their parties and they give me free alcohol, so I don't mind it so much.
How about the new AC/DC song - Runaway Train? I love that song!
You must play rock music. I would love to hear the guitars!
Whatever music it is, I just know that I must have autographed fan club pictures and/or Tiger Beat covers of you to hang on my walls. You do have a fan club, right? I guess Marnie and I need to get on that.
Ok, what do you play? How about the Eagles? Hotel California? I think you should play Don Henley's "The Heart of the Matter." Or "The End of the Innocence."
How about Sting's "Fields of Gold"?
Since you like Green Day. How about U2's "The Saints Are Coming" with Green Day? It is a really cool song.
Do you like Coldplay? They're awesome too.
How about Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd?
My Achy Breaky Heart?
So, when we have a blog-reunion in Tunica, y'all will bring the band and play for us?
I will dance to anything but prefer something fast. Old school, my favorite to dance to with my husband is Mustang Sally. Yup, I know but he picks me up on "put your flat feet on the ground" part and I have to admit, I like it, I love it, I want some more of it. My girl and I went to the gay/lesbian bar and danced together to "I kissed a girl" among others. This adorable male couple told us they were feeling the love when we were on the floor. Tell you what, you just start playing and I'm on my feet, first set.
FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE BIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRD! We want FREEEEEEEEEEEEEE BIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRD!
*grin*
Memphis Steve - have not heard that song...but sounds like something I need to check! We are planning to move beyond our four good songs, FWIW.
Melissa - you totally are in charge of the fan club. Totally. And yes, mostly rock!
Junebug - GREAT suggestions! We are working on one Zeppelin song, one Eagles song...and one Green Day song...but I like the idea of that one with U2 and Green Day...must run that one by the band!
M@ - one word: barf.
Bond - heck yes! So, when is this reunion?
Spellbound - you sound a lot like me - can't get enough of the dancing, AT ALL. And funny, we are actually working a little "Mustang Sally" number - with a very interesting twist!
Desert Sonbird - LOL! You're kidding, right? I could NOT do that song! LOL!
