NaBloPoMo Day One - Dogs on Halloween

Day One.

I received the typical "dogs dressed up" in an email this past week, and there's NOTHING I love like a dog in costume. In fact, a few Halloweens ago, we dressed ours up as a cow (and yes, that is an UDDER). I was struck at how different The Offspring looked back then (on the right): I used to dress the dog up in sweaters. However, the hubby insisted that I was making our dog "gay" by doing so and finally disallowed the dog/sweater phase of our relationship. (I will share some cute photos of that in another post.) Then again, I can't imagine that having a dog's testicles removed would have ANYTHING to do with his sexuality. Right? I mean, that's NOTHING. But a SWEATER? Forcing a dog to wear a SWEATER? Yeah - I am warping our dog's sexual identity. Ha.

At any rate, here are my favorite dog costume photos from that email:Is anyone else wondering how long that balloon stayed inflated? And did the poor dog have to walk around all night like this? And WHAT is that balloon attached to? Granted, it is a little better than our dog's cow impersonation. Two scary things about this photo: 1) The dog seems WAY TOO HAPPY to be wearing a "Hello Kitty" hat. 2) This was done, from all appearances, in a professional photography studio. This is the best costume of the year, IMHO. LOVE the hooves.

So, do you dress your pets?

I love the last costume. My dog Ariel got a costume to be a Devil, but didn't have her puppies in time, so she could show it off on Halloween.

The last one....I just love that!!!! It took me a minute to figure out that it was a dog!

Trace used to dress up for Halloween, but she's an old lady now.

Happy Halloween to ya!

We have a reindeer antlers headband for our cairn terrier, but she refuses to wear them.

NOPE! They totally don't let me! Little party poopers! Even the baby, today I attempted to put a harness with wings on it just to get her used to it, but nah she rolled and rolled and tried to take it off! Too funny!

Cats look cute in little hats but I hate the angry red scratches on my arms. That and the fact that you can't trick or treat for tuna keeps them all at home wearing only their original fur coats.

Those are pretty funny canine costumes. Thanks for sharing. I’m participating in NaBloPoMo again this year too ;--)
Hugs and blessings,

Last night I saw an Akita wearing a bikini - the full bikini, top and bottom. I also saw a pomeranian wearing a "Playboy Mansion Security" t-shirt.

I was going to dress my dog this year but she's kind of skittish. I dressed her as a butterfly a couple of years ago. Your dog is so cute! And omg, the offspring looks so different!

matt saltz - I would have changed her to a nun outfit - a pregnant nun is CLASSIC!

real live lesbian - Happy Halloween! And I am just remembering, I had a Halloween collar for my cat...

richies - I bet they were cute. Dogs...don't they understand the word MASTER?

karisma - I DO wonder how these dogs stay still - must be trained by the "Dog Whisperer."

spellbound - LOL! Cute! Though, I have to admit, my cat has trouble getting scotch tape off her head...teehee!

storyteller - I need all the hugs and blessings I can get to survive this month!

melissa - I'm glad you felt well enough to get out and about...and yeah, amazing how she has changed. LOVE the "security" t-shirt! LOL!

My girls were supposed to be Ladybugs this year....I got them the cutest little costumes. Chloe froze just like a statue. And Lady refused to wear her hat.....so I didn't get any good pics....not a one! Love your dog's costume! And the udder...OMG!

Some people just should not own dogs! ;)

No, our dog has never had clothing on. DH wouldn't go for that!

Enjoyed the photos. :)
