NaBloPoMo - Day One - No Clowns Allowed

Strap on your helmet - you're about to suffer thru 30 days of absolute mind-blowing drivel, as I prepare to partake in the hellish assignment that is NaBloPoMo. And thanks to the Fun Monday group, there are at least four days I will not have to think of my own topic.

However, this DOES give me an opportunity to update you on stuff! Which will include bragging. (Didn't I tell you there would be suffering?) Back in September, The Offspring entered the Polk County Fair Photography Division. You may remember this post from last year, featuring her winning photo. Well, either because she entered more photos - or maybe ability? She did even better this year. Here is her second place winner from the animals category:I didn't get a clear shot of it at the fair, but it is a lizard on a cherub head. Next, her prize winning self-portrait in the color category:Not a great shot - but hey! First place! Pretty cool, huh? And some of you may recognize this shot:It's one of my favorites - and this won first place in the "computer photography" category. Something tells me that all those hours she is taking photographs of herself for her myspace account? They just might pay off. And the stunner? This first place winner in the black and white portrait category:See that big purple ribbon? It says "Best of Department." WOOHOO!! And I thought this photo was kinda strange - but can you tell what it is?

Oh, and the clowns? Say "NaBloPoMo" real fast, over and over. I almost didn't join.

"NaBloPoMo" real fast.

Great job done on the photos by the offspring.

Is the last picture you?

Your daughter is very talented you must be very proud. These photos remind me of the ones my daughter Sam used to take as she loved experimenting. Only another 30 days "NaBloPoMo"!

You're off to a great start. I don't know how you're going to do it without at least one clown, but don't send them in until you get desperate.

I'm here to lend Nablopomo Anti-Clown Support. Your daughter is so talented!

ps: stop talking about the clowns, you're giving me nightmares. ;)

The Offspring is very talented, much like her momma albeit in a different way.

I got suckered into this NaBloPoMo thing, too.

Sigh.

I'm such a lemming.

Very nice photos...I'm still waiting for my children to display some sort of talent. I'm sure I will let everyone know as soon as it happens.

Day one NoBloPoMo - done.

pamela - thanks, it's actually HER. More self-indulgence, but it wins prizes, so I'll support the effort!

chrisb - please tell me your daughter is supporting you and is a famous photographer.

min - LOL!! Okay - that was REALLY funny! Thanks for the Thursday giggle!

melissa - it's only DAY ONE, and I'm feeling the pressure. There will be a clown-filled rant before it's all over, I'm sure.

desert songbird - you are so gonna ROCK NaBloPoMo - I will gladly follow your lead, fellow lemming!

beckie - thank you - I just wish the kid's talent was in "being kind to her mother."

I dunno about rockin' the blogging thing, but it will get me writing more often, so that's a good thing.

Oh, and I laughed out loud about your e-mail. Yeah, I think he's pretty worth it!

WOW your daughter kicks butt. I wanted to say ass.
Is asking us if we can tell what it is a trick question?

The offspring is very talented....this from someone who went to school with photographers and work with them constantly...encourage her....it is a great art form...I thought the last one might be you...but saw you say it is another self-portrait from a different angle... her perspective is very interesting and 'old school'

Stopping by all my NaBloPoMo friends to say on this first day. Glad I did when it involves photography. Great photos! She obviously has a talent. The next Annie Leibovitz perhaps?

Whoops. There's supposed to be a "Hi" in there. Must learn to proof read 'before' pushing the damn button.

Those were excellent photos. Now I'll be expecting you to post more of them.

desert songbird - I think it's good that YOU will write more, but I'm afraid that by the end of this month, I'll have written something that will get me in trouble.

kaytabug - you can say ass! It's allowed! She's almost 14 - so I'm sure she says it more than we do! And no - it's just that some folks I know in person saw it, and it took them a minute or two to figure it out. I should know that bloggers are MUCH more savvy.

bond - thanks so much - and if you have ANY idea where she should go to college, where she can also explore her poetry, music and graphic design talents? PLEASE let me know.

joy t. - Thanks! And it IS day one...I already feel the pressure. But I'm NOT cheating...NOT! Though I may have to post at midnight-o-one tomorrow late - since I'll won't wake up early on Saturday.

robocop - will do! That will make this month MUCH easier!
