I almost didn't have a post today. You were going to get The Offspring's Halloween photos early. However, the painters and cabinet-makers saved me! The heat is also on, thanks to our friends in the business, so it's not 40 degrees inside. And my paint might dry.
I just couldn't wait to show you the beginnings of CABINETS in my kitchen, naked as they are, without doors and drawers. There isn't any cabinet molding yet, and there is still an island and bar to install, but this should give you some idea of the storage capacity:Trust me - they will look a lot better after the trim, doors, and countertops are in place. I just couldn't WAIT! Here are the cabinets above the washer and dryer:Here is the cabinet over the toilet in the master bath (the big cabinets for the sinks aren't installed yet):The painters finished the area around the cabinets, so you can get an idea of our final wall color - the shade on the right of this photo:And look! The frame for our whirlpool tub! Now, go back to the first photo. Take a good, long look. PLEASE help me decide where to put the junk drawer!

Oooh first! I think the junk drawer should DEF be the one by the door. We have very similar kitchens and that's where mine is. No, never mind all the drawers on that side are junk drawers.
Far right side of the picture. That's where. Looks Awesome.
glad to see I'm not the only one that thinks the drawer by the door.
When is the first class on Greymania? I just want to dish!
simply jenn - yeah, I should admit now that my tiny cabinet-less kitchen at my house now has TWO junk drawers. SO SMART of you! Are you stalking me? How did you know?
mark - hey, Stranger! And thanks...I'm thinking since that's where I will usually enter the house, that would be perfect.
kaytabug - dish anytime! But I'm REALLY mad that they did that "to be continued" crap last week. Sheesh. I'm not sure it's even ON tomorrow night! GRRR!!
nope its not. It will be back next Thursday.
What would Meredith do?
I love cabinets that have no doors. I never hit my head on them. Cheers!!
Whirlpool tub?!?!?!?! Damn!
kaytabug - I knew it. Maybe there will be football on tv to tide me over.
willowtree - Meredith would spend an hour with Christina, pondering her next move, then doubting herself, then not making a decision.
matt-man - maybe I'll leave them naked, in case you stop by - I don't want to get sued!
desert songbird - I KNOW! I had to get an 85-gallon hot water heater, just to make sure I could fill it up!
Very cool! Every time I move into a new place I never want to fill up the drawers, because of my propensity to turn every drawer into a junk drawer. There's always that moment of hope that these drawers will be the ones that stay organized...and then six months later I'm saying things like, "why is there a glue stick, a pair of socks, and six pizza coupons in here?!" Sigh.
Now, did you see WT's version of the meme? He's so obviously a closeted Grey's fanatic.
The junk drawer should be the first one you come upon when you walk into the room so you know where to store all your crap. And whirlpool tub?!?!? Damn. Me be jealous.
Junk drawers are SO important! I have to agree with Mark on where it should be.
Put the drawer anywhere you like! I can FEEL your excitement! Building a new house must be THE most exciting thing. I can't even imagine! Love looking at all your pics though because that's the closest I will ever come to building!!
A year from now, we'll be looking at interior decorating decisions.
I was sent here by DubYaT about a course...I don't want to take a course...I need a support group. Is there a support group here?
A junk drawer? What's that? ;D Do I have any of those? Hmmmmm....We have a jetted tub and I didn't need the extra water heater because it has a heated back. But I thought a long time about getting one of those tankless water heaters if necessary. So far, so good.
Hi Tiff! Congratulations for getting through this NaBloPoMoToPoDoBoMaMa. Just one more day to go. YAY!! Hugs.
You're gonna have junk at your new house? Keep it as close to the door as possible. ;)
Are you taking reservations for the hot tub?
Lovely!!!
and hey - what is up with Blogger giving this new identity - Nickname without the URL? Weird.
The junk drawer should be just below where the telephone is. Or if you want to be like me, it can be every drawer.
I like dark cabinets, that what I have too. Can't wait to see the rest.
Caroline
melissa - TOTAL closet case, that WT. Your junk drawers sound so much like mine!
nikki - I am a girl who likes the convenience of a shower - soaking in my own filth seems odd, but maybe I'll get used to it?
beckie - this sounds like a consensus on that drawer! Easy choice!
bermudabluez - hey, you never know what the future holds - it might happen! And yeah, I'm getting really stoked.
matthew - oh, don't worry - you won't have to wait a year! It will start in January, hopefully.
swampy - you have my full support - whatcha need, Sweetie?
junebug - I will have to post the sexy hot water heater I got. And it will have a recirculator attachment, guaranteeing lots of hotness.
dan - I can't believe I did it! You, but not ME!
kila - you are first on the reservation list. You deserve it.
karmyn r - me, the neophyte, had no clue until you mentioned it!
caroline - I didn't think about the phone. Another dang decision! I'm liking that far right drawer, more and more!
WOW, it's really coming together nicely :)
piglet - yeah - finally - I can't wait!
Can't wait to see the finished kitchen. It will be pretty nice I am sure...
Junk drawer should defo be on the far right in the photo, next to the door. Easy access and all;).
It's all coming along very nicely! You must be so excited:).
sirdar - you can always sneek an advance peek by checking out my flickr site - listed in the sidebar. We actually have cabinet doors, which makes a HUGE difference!
tiger lamb girl - I agree. I think I'll pay homage to bloggers there, too! And yeah - even though I was told it will now be January, I'm excited and relieved, all at once.
