NaBloPoMo Day Fourteen - I WARNED You There Would Be Bragging

You know, The Offspring does a LOT of things, like other typical teenagers. Such as sending and receiving 2,500+ text messages last month. Or getting caught sitting on her boyfriend's lap. IN PUBLIC. Things that don't necessarily make her parents proud. But she has a talent (besides photography) of which we are extremely proud: she can sing.

I am not the only one who thinks so. Her choir director, who also happens to be one of the best friends I've ever had in my life, thinks so, too. Now, you may think she is biased. But she is the kind of friend who would NOT hesitate to tell me the honest truth. If The Offspring sucked at singing, I would know it. Here is a photo of Amber and some of her choirmates at last summer's ACC Choir Camp:She not only won a partial scholarship to attend the camp, but she auditioned and received a spot in the junior girl's ensemble during camp. Arkansas Songbird never went NEAR the camp this year - so, it was up to other choir directors from around the state to judge The Offspring's talent.

Remember this photo? Well, I didn't realize that Amber wore it to school on a day that she would be having her photo taken! Here she is, with the other choir officers in her middle school choir:Poor Arkansas Songbird - she had to blacken out Amber's shirt slogan so that it would be suitable for publication in the local paper and on the school web site. (Shame on us!) But the BEST of all?Getting to take the photo of Amber and her companions who made the Southwest Arkansas All-Region Choir! This was her second year to audition, and I was nervous b/c she had changed to a lower voice part. She made 10th chair in her section last year, and this year? She had to audition against even MORE kiddos (that means over 100, at least) from large, huge, BIG schools...and she made THIRD CHAIR! So, yeah, we are ecstatic. We will be attending the choir concert out of town this weekend - and I can't wait to hear her sing.

Don't blame me for bragging. I only have one kid, so I'm gonna milk it for all it's worth!

Awesome news!! I would brag too. OK...sometimes I do brag :-)

She sure did well to move up from 10th chair to 3rd chair. I have absolutly no idea what that means but from the sound of it...it is a good thing.

Hope you can take some video or audio and post it for us. I did the kids handbells last year so it can be done. And yes I bragged.
