NaBloPoMo Day Eleven - STOLEN TREE!!!

You know, I feel like I am a good person. I feel like I live in a safe town. But I'm NOT feeling like a good person right now - in fact, I'm REALLY HACKED OFF.

Remember this tree?

My dear Roger worked for a LONG TIME yesterday, carefully trimming branches from this tree, and guess what? It's gone.

Now, in the grand scheme of things, it's just a tree. I know that. I'm also aware that people desperately need wood for heating their homes. We were planning to give the wood to some friends, to burn in THEIR fireplace. So, yeah. It's not life or death.

BUT STILL...the fact is, someone did this without asking. Someone took it upon themselves (his or herself?) to trespass, cut up the log, and take it without asking. They also left behind the ginormous stump. To top if off? My husband had already done the difficult, unpleasant work of de-limbing the tree, hauling the brush, and piling the debris. He is REALLY mad. (And before you ask, our friends had not come to collect it. They won't be destitute, so yeah, I know...it's just a tree.) But this man, well - would you mess with him? If you have his tree, you owe him $100 for the ricks of wood and labor. Cash only.

Oh.
My.
Gawds.

Who would be desperate and despicable enough to steal someone's tree?!

I don't blame Roger for being majorly ticked off. I sure as hell would be!

Wow, that really is a Miss Tree.

Sounds like you've got some low-life's in your area.

Wow!

Back when we lived in Magnolia, and the fam was still clearing the land, one Sunday we got out there and found that someone had burned all our wooden patio chairs. We had the chairs out there to sit in between all the heavy work of digging trenches and clearing trees.

You probably never met the sheriff there (Mike Lyons) but he was the best. Anyhow, my mother came out one day during the week and found two people sleeping on the grounds. A man and woman. So she quietly walked back to her car, got to the neighbor's house (pre cell phone days, folks)and call Mike. He came out and arrested the two.

She was pregnant. He was wanted for a warrant. So you never know about folks who trespass... and you might actually stumble upon them sometime...

Damn tree thieves. Now we'll need to grow another one just to hang the perp.

Kila said...

Oh, that is terrible!

I'm mad for you, Roger. All that work...

It'll come back to bite them in the a$$.

WHAT?!? That is horrible...I'd be pissed.

desert songbird - I don't know, but we're trying to find out.

willowtree - and you wouldn't think so, judging from the surrounding homes - including the one with the state trooper's car parked outside!

little miss moi - yeah, scum. But I'm trying to think that they NEEDED it. But I know better.

robert - you're making me want to bring a gun to the house - I wonder WHY they burned the chairs?

sandy - thanks - Roger is STILL mad.

m@ - clever! Tree thieves, go figure.

kaytabug - yeah, Roger is still very upset. He worked very hard...and oddly enough, we actually DO feel victimized. Over a tree, no less.

melissa - as soon as we find out, I'll call you in for backup! And then, drinks on the porch!

robocop - thanks for the laugh! I have plenty of others, with good, strong limbs for the purpose.

kila - I feel so bad for Roger, and like you, I think things like this have a way of "coming around," you know?

karymn r - Yeah, we still are - especially Roger. He is STILL plotting his next move!

Oh...that wood tick me off too. There was a day a couple of months ago where there was this truck parked on the main road at the other end of our property. So, since I was in my car, I drove over to see what was up. He saw me and jumped back into his truck and took off. I have 5 acres of trees. If someone comes and asks to take one, I would probably let him have it. But to come and steal it...oh...that would make me mad too.

I would be really angry too, especially after all the work Roger put in. Feeling violated is the worst part of it. Hopefully, they will get theirs one day.

sirdar - you guys, with your play on words - too funny! I guess we all have to be on the lookout - the world is getting crazy.

dawn - I have to hope for karma to come around. But you're right, Roger was still mad - thinking of the work he had done AND that we have already been robbed at our new home!

That would be soooooo frustrating. I'd be spitting nails. {Why just yesterday I had a confrontation of a lady who had her cart half filled with groceries, unloading them on the conveyor belt....and it was a 10 Item or Less line!!!] Don't mess with me. Or your hubby! LOL

I can't believe they had the nerve to haul it off! And I wouldn't mess with that guy. Do you still have a camera? I think my hubby, when mad, would smash it if I tried to take his photo. :0)

Tiggerlane said...

hootin' anni - now I have another ally, when I need to fight off the tree thieves!

lisa's chaos - the nerve, huh? Oh, hubby wanted me to take a photo of him holding a message to the tree thieves, but I don't allow rampant cursing on my blog!

cute play on words by WT.
I understand a little bit. about 18 years ago we bought a cord of wood and had it stacked by the house, and during the night a pick up truck backed in and took a bunch.

pamela - m@ did pretty well, too. I just can't believe people would steal your wood, either. Thieves!
