Fun Monday Libations...and, OF COURSE, a House Update

It's FUN MONDAY again! And this week's hostess is Beckie, who said (in part):

"I want to know what your favorite treat is....It can be anything, popcorn, peanuts, ice cream or chips, maybe you have more than one favorite - that is ok, just show us your favorite(s) and tell us why you like it so much. C’mon, what gets you all juiced up?"

Well, I love ALL sorts of treats - and food is my friend. But lately, the "treat" that gets me "all juiced up" is this:Now don't go thinking I'm a lush. I KNOW I posted a drink recipe for one Fun Monday assignment - but this stuff is my latest libation, of ALL food and drink. Ever seen the commercials featuring the Jon Bon Jovi look-a-like bartender and this chick? There really IS a reason she is licking that cube. This stuff is THAT good. I usually mix it with a little flavored water (Propel, if you must know)...but sometimes I like it on the rocks. Call me what you will.

Now for a house update - just can't post without one! Friday, I actually saw the head contractor, Jackie Ryan, do some very physical work. Here he is, cutting wood for the stairs:Then, the whole crew had to take some time and figure out how to get our large steel beam up into the top of the garage to support the bonus room:The beam is on its way up, but in the process, it almost flipped over! Here comes Jackie, quick with a board, to support that sucker until it is upright again:Now, it is perfectly in place, waiting for floor joists. The next adventure of the day was to pour the concrete piers for the deck bracings. Jackie's crew could do this themselves, with a few more baseball-type signs for the truck driver:Oh, and remember that "storage space" under the house? I found out who needed to use it:Sneaky dudes!

Now go check out the other Fun Monday partipants! Our next episode in home-building will hopefully feature our 8' x 76' deck!

I forgot the libacious variety of treats! Hmmm Amaretto is good but I think I would have to say Frangelico takes the cake there!! Great treat!!

I'd like to taste it once -- just to see (I've not seen the commercial)

I'm amazed at the speed the house is going up,

My hubby LOVE Disarano, but prefers it with coke.

The house looks like it is coming along great!

Beckie said...

I cannot believe how fast that house is going. I do enjoy the updates!

I wouldn't mind the drink either - although I might wait an hour or two - it is still early here!

Sometimes I worry about you....

desert songbird - you are waaay making me blush!

fianna - now you're making me want some frangelica - never had it!

pamela - it almost reminds me of cherry liqueur. And I'm also pleased at the quick progress...

her indoors - if you like sweet things, this might be for you.

hootin' anni - I'll take Jon Bon Jovi, too! Hope to blog-hop today SOON.

theotherbear - I know, it sounds weird, but it actually tastes GREAT and keeps me from drinking too much.

chrisb - the ad was pulled in parts of the UK, b/c the girl licked the ice cube too seductively...crazy!

nikki - thanks for the coke tip, I'll have to give that a try.

beckie - it's always 5PM SOMEWHERE!

arkansas songbird - only sometimes? :-)

I'll be over for a taste test...when is your estimated time of inhabiting that new house? I want to host a virtual house-warming for you.

Rachel (Crazy-Is) said...

I've never tried that stuff. What kind of flavor does it have?

I haven't had anything other than beer and wine since moving to WA where you have to buy anything harder at a state run store. No real reason, I just don't want the state to know I'm a boozer...it's OK if Safeway knows... LOL

Steffi said...

Great treat and I like Amaretto and Jon Bon Jovi too ;O)!

swampy - come on by! The builder says the end of November - I'm being more realistic and hoping for New Year's Eve.

rachel - It tastes like cherries to me - very sweet. Very thick. Very intoxicating.

susan - I know the feeling. Living in a dry county is horrible - so I can only get liquor every so often when I go out of town. It's sad when the guys at the out-of-town liquor store know me by name!

steffi - I shoulda posted a photo of Jon, for sure!

There's a wonderful martini bar I used to go to in Galveston that made Disaronno martinis. YUM!!

Oh, and I'm totally groovin' on your contractors arms. Niiiice!!

Kahless said...

Your house looks great! Wow. I'll be back to follow progress.

Molly said...

Wow, your house is beginning to look like a house. Licking the ice cube? Your drink must be mighty tasty.

Melanie said...

Never had any of that!

Your house looks like it is really coming along. I'm going to have to come back and watch it go up.

Btw- In response to your comment you left me- I also keep the volume on my tv or car radio at an even number. I alway thought I was strange- but at least I'm not alone!

Shauna said...

I'll have some on the rocks! ! ! Sit back and watch the progress of the house! ! ! So cool! ! !

Kaytabug said...

OK so I thought I commented! I love the progress photos! Cherry flavored drinks are not faves of mine but I still want to take a small sip sometime...I may be surprised!

If you are feeling libacious come on over on Fridays...I will be featuring a different drink every Friday. Jenni(in KS) gave me the idea!

I thought you might be the one person to drizzle chocolate syrup all over yourself, lol...

But this is nicely spicy :).

Your house IS progressing nicely! It's fun seeing the updates.

Is your storage space eventually going to be cold storage? I like amaretto in coffee with cream and on ice cream, add some almonds and chocolate, mmmm.

Never tasted it but I love Lime Marguritas!!!! So we can not be lushes together! Oh BTW, I am from Soutnern Arkansas :D Nice to see another Arkansasan here on the blog!

stephanie - I want a martini! WOW! And when Jackie heard how all the women bloggers were talking about the shirtless concrete guys, he thought maybe his crew should go shirtless for the sake of all the girls out there. I think he was jealours. He'll be VERY pleased about your comment!

kahless - it should really take shape once the roof and deck are on - then I hear it goes slowly from there. Thanks for stopping by!

melanie - strange birds of a feather, are we! The Disaronno is very sweet...

shauna - I'll start pouring - now that it is up to 105 degrees here, we'll need it!

kaytabug - your place sounds like my new Friday hangout...what an awesome idea!

robin - what kinda girl do you think I am? Oh, wait...yeah, you might be right!

dawn - sounds like a good recipe to me! I actually plan to have two extra refrigerators in the garage - but hey - that might make a wine cellar under there!

raven_dase - Wow! I didn't know there was anyone else out there from Southern Arkansas - though I guess I'm more Southwest - but HOW COOL! Cheers!

It seems like the house coming along quite quickly. It must be fun to see it transforming into a home.

The ice cubes are great idea.

Dan said...

Just don't give any of those workmen your favorite treat! :)

Anonymous said...

I would say those guys probably need a glass after such a hard days work.

And Hey - how come they have shirts on again?

debi said...

Geez, that house is movin along fast. I love to watch men at work.

MommaBoo said...

OMG isn't that stuff the BEST? I mix it with a little soda water and top it with cream - it tastes like a creme de cacao italian soda.

I love seeing the progress on your house - I find it really interesting.

Okay, gotta go make myself a drink. :)

Tiggerlane said...

debbie - it's fun, but scary - I told the boys they needed to slow down in this 105-degree heat!

dan - they are beer-drinkers. My stash is safe!

karmyn r - different crew - the concrete crew were the shirtless fellows. But these guys DID offer. I'll get some shots - don't you worry!

debi - I'll take more photos. I aim to please!

jennieboo - my results on your meme were..uh..interesting. I'm drinking a glass with Cherry Coke (a new idea) right now!

frances - got a double shot, right here, just for you (and me). Girl, you must have a job like mine! Hang in!

melissa - you and I SO need to be drinkin' buddies! I hope to take more photos tomorrow - but I really don't want these guys to work too hard in the heat!

After all th food I've been drooling over it's nice to come across a beverage. I prefer vodka myself!

Tiggerlane said...

alisonwonderland - treat was consumed, and enjoyed.

beccy - I like Absolut Citron, too - but not as often as Disaronno.

Kila said...

The place is really taking shape!

I didn't do this Fun Monday but anything with real chocolate, or Wisconsin cheese, is fine with me!

Oh stairs are fun. You look like you're having more fun building than we did. :) I think my husband only messed up one riser before we got it right. :)

I would be such a stress case having a house built. I'm much more likely to buy an old vintage house in need of repair to fix up. However, that would stress me out too.

It must be pretty awesome though, too, to watch your dream home rise up from nothing but plans into a structure you will soon live in.

I haven't forgotten you either! I just haven't been by as often and I haven't left comments every time.

Tiggerlane said...

kila - chocolate and cheese RULE.

lisa's chaos - I think the reason it IS going so well is that Roger and I are not having to actually DO any of it!

angelina - I have the vintage house, and trust me - it's impossible to repair. It is cool - I can't believe it's real some days!

cherries did you say? sounds good hand some over..

i had to laugh though cause you notice all shirts are on the men and all the steamy comments were left out this time, it must have just been that other crew *sigh* concrete crews usually have ripped bodies and nice tans.. i'd love to have one pose for a sketch or painting;)

the house is looking amazing!! sorry im so far behind on all my blog reading
