Ice, Ice, Baby

I am a weather junkie. I have been watching this past weekend's storm with anticipation, flipping back and forth between the playoff games and the Weather Channel. I don't usually want bad weather, but I've had such a hard time getting back into the groove after the holidays that I wanted a school cancellation in the worst way. If school is cancelled, I don't have to get up early. I can call my office while snuggled in bed and tell them if they need me, come try to find me under the mountain of blankets, afghans and comforters. Being the boss has its perks.

I woke up to light sleet this morning, and thought SURELY it was too treacherous for a school bus. Evidently, the school's transportation department didn't agree. To make matters worse, we figured there wouldn't be any trash service due to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. But on my way back from dropping off the child, I spied trash trucks. Roger had already gone to work (seems like they NEVER close that hospital), so I had to haul stinky trash bags to the curb. I think I've done this maybe one other time during our marriage. What a way to start off my Monday.

I spent some time this weekend worrying about blogger buddies Shauna, Ree, and Julie. How strange it is to worry about folks you don't really "know" - yet feel a personal connection to through the blogosphere! Thankfully, they all seem to be faring just fine - and you should take a moment to check out Ree's site for some cute photos of her enjoying the ice and snow.

Finally, there are only four teams left in the race for the Super Bowl - who would you like to see win? (I'm hoping it is Peyton's year - I'd like to see the Colts and Saints face off for the big game.) And for those of you who love to criticize stars for their lack of fashion sense, don't forget to check out tonight's Golden Globes.

I'm a weather junkie as well. In fact I wanted to become a meteorologist when I was a kid. All seemed like it would work out until I was met by two words..."Math" and "Physics"...I wanted the Chargers and the Saints, but I could enjoy watching the Saints and Colts in the SB. Cheers

Colts alllll the way, I hope.

Don't feel bad, I always get stuck with "trash detail".

When the weather report is on, I stand up in front of my window and do the hand motions. I'm very good. I would be the best weather bunny on the local news. Too bad I don't have a degree in meteorology. How often do they report on meteors anyway?

Being the boss may have perks but sleeping with the boss doesn't have any! I wanted to stay home today but instead I was drove to work. How nice of him right?

We were out of school for Martin Luther King day. ?? I think we will be out of school for most of the week. The backroads are so bad here they are almost not passable.

I like to watch weather, too.

Weather Wars is a website that you might get a kick out of. He was a meterologist that worked for an Idaho TV station and quit to pursue full time his theory about a weather machine --- and that the Japaneses Mafia (I think) is using it to control the world's weather.

I couldn't get the site up for some reason.

Stay warm (& dry)

Jeez, how much trash do you guys produce anyway? :)

Well - since the Seahawks lost - I immediately turned my affections to the Chargers, who ultimately lost....SO, if I REALLY have to choose a team to root for, I guess it will be the Colts - because I don't want Peyton Manning to turn into another Dan Marino - know what I mean?

I wonder if any interviewers are going to feel up any starlet's golden globes this year...

I was rooting for the Seahawks. Being in WI, I still like Mike Holmgren, and of course I'm no Bears fan ;)

I'll pray for horrible, cold, treacherous weather to come your way ;)

No ice and snow here, but wicked cold temps. Yesterday's HIGH was 41 degrees -- it froze overnight! When my daughter and I left for church, the temperature was only 27 degrees!!!!

Tonight it is 48 degrees with 17mph winds.

I'm hoping for a Colts-Saints Super Bowl, but I'm sure that Archie Manning might be dreading that match up...

My wife's a weather junkie too. I've never seen anyone who can sit and watch the Weather Channel like other folks watch cartoons.

And I'm with you on the big bowl - which I'm gonna have to work instead of watch liesurely :( - I'd love to see the Saints and Colts go at it.

Racist.

Matt - The Chargers were the only team that I wanted to win this past weekend that didn't. Bummer. 3 out of 4 isn't too bad, tho.

slick - So does the hubby. 14 years and I've only had to do it twice. I'm lucky!

mist1 - I think we need video!

vicki - Hope things clear up for you - do you have to leave the kids at home alone?

pamela - Couldn't get it either, but I'll keep trying - sounds fun!

dan - More than I'd like. Actually, I only had to haul 3 bags. I couldn't get the cans in the back open, as they were iced shut. I wasn't going to drag them to the curb, just to have the garbage men beat the hell out of them to get them open.

karmyn - Totally with you on that. Go Peyton! Besides, Tom Brady has plenty of rings. IF Peyton had to lose - the underdog Saints would have my next vote.

claudia! LOL! Referencing Scarlett from last year? At least the guy who felt her up is gay.

kila - Thanks. Was 19 degrees this morning. But they still won't cancel school.

desert songbird - Wanna come here? High was below freezing yesterday, and it got down to 14 last night. I'll trade ya!

james - Will you be writing about it? Better send a link to the article when you're finished!

shauna - Thanks! I'll bet your guys are busy this time of year.

matt - You should know better. With my questionable heritage, I'm the least racist person I know!

LOL...yes. Dear Isaac made the show last year. I was sad he wasn't around this time...or at least someone a bit more entertaining than stupid Ryan Seacrest.

I love this photo!

Too bad about not getting the day off in bed. Maybe next week!
