Fun Monday Query

What an easy assignment this Fun Monday! Lisa's Chaos is our hostess, and she wanted us to ask our readers one question. Just one. Easy for me, tough on my readers.

At the risk of being the silliest Fun Mondayer of the lot, here is the question:

Why do you think drawings of Adam and Eve show them with bellybuttons? (If you do a google image search, you'll see what I mean.)

If that requires too much thought, then just enjoy this summer video of twin moose (meese?) enjoying a backyard sprinkler:

Now go visit all the participants!

I think because that is what people are used to and it just looks weird without belly buttons!

Perhaps they had fake belly buttons? Just for show!

Why the belly buttons? It's art! Anything can show up in art.

My FM question is posted, stop by and give me your answer.

LOVED the video. so darned cute.

well we're all made in god's image so maybe god has one and he made up the umbilical cord thing to explain a reason for it? and i love the moose thing. i saw it a few weeks ago.

That might be the best question anyone has asked all day.

Um, artistic license? ;0) Too philosophical for my brain on a Monday!

my4kids - I agree...and it DOES look weird.

karisma - I wanna know where to go a fake bellybutton - mine has a stretchmark thru it from having The Offspring! I need a new one!

hootin' anni - will be by! And that video made me smile.

lil mouse - now I'm wanting to do another image search!

beckie - and I'm still waiting for a stellar answer!

ipost - same here - and I've been puzzling over it for years!

Do they? Interesting. Because they hadn't cut the cord.

Rayne said...

Because a belly without a button just looks wrong, so they get belly buttons.

Well I suppose if they didn't their kids would have thought they were weird. Funny thought though. And the mousses/meeses are lovely. :D

because when they came out of the oven God had to make sure they were well done so he poked them!!!

haha. Good question. Probably because back in the "day" no one knew any better.

I like Judy's answer LOL.

That video is just so cute they were so enjoying the water, with mummy moose was keeping a close eye on the proceedings.

And I have no idea!

I love the moose video! They are TOO cute!

Perhaps they are drawn with bellybuttons so we won't think they were aliens. Because we all know that aliens hatch out of eggs, not people.

I loved this ‘twin moose’ video when I first happened upon it a while back … it enjoyed watching it again today. As for your question … who knew? I certainly didn’t have a clue, but I never cease to be amazed what one can find with a Google Search!
Hugs and blessings,

So they wouldn't be freaked out when Cain and Abel came along.

You know, like, "What the heck is THAT??!! WE don't have one of those!!!!"

Jus' sayin'...

I had no idea! And I can't even come up with a guess!

Because we only think in our own relm (that that we know) and not the whole existance.

Sandcastle Momma said...

I think it has to be because they would look so strange without them. I love it that you thought about it and realized that they wouldn't have belly buttons!

Those are moose calf with, I think, the cow (not the bull).

I've seen plenty of moose in Vermont, including a bull with several cows trailing him. One time in high school, a line of 20 or so cars stopped on the road to look at a bull moose in a meadow and one schoolteacher, a substitute, showed up drunk, imploring someone to "shoot the focker."

Oh no! I'm going to be up all night thinking about their button-less bellies. And about the early artists agony over the problem.

Joy T. said...

I will now and forever look for Adam & Eve's belly buttons because seriously? I never even noticed before. As for those moose, I saw this a couple of weeks ago and I'm glad you showed it again. Love it!

Faye said...

The artists didn't do their theology research before letting the paint fly?

Anonymous said...

So they had a place to put their belly button rings.

Love the video. That mama moose sure does have long legs.

Anonymous said...

LOL at your question. Hadn't thought about it before!

I love that video!

Uh, well then I guess if they were made in God's image that he must have had a belly button. Hmmm.

I love the video....I think I have to agree with Swampy!!

Junebug said...

Great video and I have always loved that song, especially when Keith sang it. The moose children are just like little kids playing in the sprinkler!

Tiggerlane said...

jeanna - they do, and you're absolutley correct.

rayne - I sure wish my belly had LESS of a button!

jo beaufoix - now THERE'S a thought!

judysteapot - okay, now your response made me totally giggle!

karmyn r - I actually found some drawings WITHOUT bellybuttons, if you can believe it. Don't know if they are current or not.

chrisb - the meese are just precious!

aoj & the lurchers - I seem to win the "weird" award a lot!

sayre - now you're making me worry about those unhatched eggs I found in my pasture, along with the crop circles....

jettie - love it - another award for being "out there!" My reputation is secure!

storyteller - I knew I should have bought into that google IPO.

stephanie, mama dramatist - LOL! Very true...then again, I don't remember what my mom and dad's bellybuttons look like, which is probably a good thing.

big momma - i love stumping my readers.

iamwhoiam - I think you just went way deeper than I can go....

sandcastle momma - I think that way, weird, huh?

m@ - I had no idea that Sarah Palin used to troll the highways in Vermont.

pamela - I wonder if early artists even thought about it? Or knew where we got those buttons?

joy t. - glad I could stick something in your mind permanently! (Insert evil laugh here.)

faye - like we could fire Michaelangelo, right?

swampy - I need those legs, and a smaller butt!

kila - that's what I'm here for, to tickle the brain cells.

lisas chaos - now I want to see God's bellybutton!

alison - I never disagree with Swampy, that's for sure!

junebug - Alison Krauss is one of my favorites, as well as Keith Whitley. Great tune.
