Meme? What Meme?

You know you're a bad blogger when you take over a MONTH to finish ONE MEME. The Lovely Karina tagged me a long time ago to repost five previous posts, and how many do I have done? Two. Plus, I still haven't commented on all the Fun Monday participants, nor have I responded to all your thoughtful comments on my own blog. I suck.

But I'm catching up, and maybe Karina will forgive me. So, at the risk of getting even more google hits for "Urine Therapy" on my blog, I give you the following story, which originally appeared in August 2006, sans photo:

I'm gonna lie. So, now you all have fair warning. I'm gonna tell a lie for the rest of the day, into the evening.

I guess it's been a ton of stress that caused it - and I'm going to share the truth with YOU, the faithful stranger on the 'net - I have a growth. You can forget the photo, 'cuz it's not gonna happen. Basically, I have a THING on my chin - to the left of my bottom lip. What looks like the beginnings of an "innie-zit," know what I mean? Those zits that don't really come up to the surface? But you can feel them there - like the stranger in the dark, lurking around, ready to pounce...one of THOSE. A non-approachable, non-squeezable, can't-find-the-point-of-release zit.

Only I don't think it's a zit anymore. Usually, a zit won't make your entire chin feel like it's been pumped with Novacaine, or make the lip that is at LEAST an inch above it swell, giving you a lop-sided smile. I HAVE had the occasional throbbing zit, but this thing is like a facial fetus with it's own heartbeat.

I've been told, "It's a boil." I've been told, "It's a cyst." And I live in the South, so I've been told to put every imaginable pultice (poultice?) on the thing, even a remedy including urine that IS NOT MY OWN. Not gonna happen.

The Nurse/Husband/Father of My Child is concerned, but his treatments include lots of antibiotics, epsom salts and hydrogen peroxide. That just gave the "non-zit" lots of little nasty white things on top, but still nothing poppable.

I woke up thinking it would be better this morning, but alas, I have Quasimodo-lip. So I'm gonna lie, b/c I have to stand in front of a college class and teach tonight. Who wants an instructor with a BOIL, or a CYST or even a ZIT???? YUCK!

So...it's a spider bite. Pass it on.

It does look like a spider bite...yeah, that's it!

I didn't know you taught college. I teach junior college which is college light. I'm so sorry a spider bit your lip. I think you might want to see a doctor about that!

I am hoping in the year and a half since it has gone away never to return?

sandy - I figured I would get more sympathy that way, until they asked me to describe the spider.

simply jenn - actually, I was adjunct faculty at a community college - which is probably two more steps below!

ped crossing - oh, yes - and it WAS a zit. But man, when that sucker blew...it was GROSS.

I hate those kind of zits. my chin has been the home to one of those for the past week.
Not that you would want to use it but I thought of another thing it could have been.... and ingrown chin hair.
Spider bite is better.

OMG, since I missed this the first time, and it was WELL worth the wait, all is forgiven my friend! I can't wait to read the two remaining posts ;-)

I've had two spider bites. TOTALLY looks like one, of course. wink wink. Did you get to the derm?

Thanks for stopping by my neck of the woods!

Maybe it was a boil if when it 'blew' it was really gross. I cannot believe I am actually typing this. But when it blew was there like a core in amongst the pus? Oh god a bit of vomit just came up in my mouth.

At least you don't have hemeroids.

kaytabug - ingrown chin hair? OMG...woman, have you been stalking me? Teehee!

anglophile football fanatic - actually, didn't need the derm. Thing "resolved itself" after a few days. Thank goodness.

theotherbear - would it sicken you even more if that's what I had been hoping for? Sadly, it was clear stuff - lots of "serus" fluid, as my hubby said. Whatever. It felt better OUT.

m@ - true - didn't even get those when I was preggers! YIPPEE!

karina - it's late, and I totally blurred out your comment - so yeah, there are two more coming. But no promises as to when!

I had a little thing on my face like that and the dermatologist cut it open -- and then said she'd made a mistake. She did. she made it worse.

Jeez Tigger, maybe it IS a spider bite. Hey - College teacher and Simplyjenn too? I teach practicum students from our college all about my work. I have 2 of them next weeks until Spring Break. Have done some talks at College too. Huh! How about that. Hope your zit - I mean spider bite gets better soon.

Ouch! My heart bleeds for you! Truly it does. Now I would have said squeeze the bastard and all but since it is near you lip, I would have to say, just leave it alone. OMG I hate these things they are so darned annoying and painful. Ouch Ouch Ouch.

Now just close your eyes and think of nice things. Like shoes and handbags. Just visualize, nice happy thoughts.

It didn't work did it? Now try harder!!!!

Tiggerlane, just remember it's college students you're in front of. They'll just think you have a more active social life than they do. Know what you mean, I had shingles at one time and in times of high stress this industrial dump appeared on my chin--very impressive.

pamela - swampy was worried about me when this happened, and mentioned going to a derm. I am stubborn and waited it out. Thankfully, it worked out okay.

caroline - it's better now - I originally posted this in 2006 - and I'm reposting as meme assignment. Wow! Instructors, UNITE!

karisma - oh, and squeezed. Believe you me! And in the end, it came out fine. No pun intended.

faye - I am actually hoping that I get the "change of life" early - pimply breakouts once a month are NOT fun!

When they ask about the size of the spider, say you don't know, it must have happened in your sleep!

Desert Songbird said...

Okay, so if this ever happens again, I'd try Windex.

Kim said...

Okay. Yuck. You poor thing. Did the kids buy the spider bite story?

Tiggerlane said...

nikki - that was EXACTLY my thought!

desert songbird - believe it or not, I got a mosquito bite once, and that Windex really worked.

kaycie - I think they were too intimidated by me to ask! LOL!

Great repost of an old post. I don't think I've had a spider bite..and quite frankly, I'm OK with that.

sirdar - I'm amazed...and glad for you. They really hurt!
