So, How Was Yours?

For one last time, we celebrated New Year's Eve at our old home. Even though I am excited about having more than one bathroom in a house, our old home is a cozy place for friends. And we don't have to worry about messing stuff up. Luckily the kitchen in the new house is NOT separated by walls from the main living area, b/c guess where folks tend to gather? Then again, that might have something to do with the carnage going on against several alcoholic beverages. Everyone loves to see a disaster in the making. Trust - there were many more corks on the counter as it got closer to 1 AM.At some point, many of us were glued to the television, watching Robbie Maddison jump the length of a football field on a motorcycle. Dude broke a world record. For insanity.Later, our annual lighting of what are the only legal pyrotechnics in the city limits of our town. Next year at this time, we will be living 2/10th of a mile OUTSIDE the city limits. Hehehehe! No one was injured as we enjoyed sparklers on the lawn. Even though it was FREEZING outside. As for the new home, we got tile...it is still waiting for the dark-brown grout (for hiding dirt), but I couldn't resist sharing a photo now.
Hope you had a great New Year's Eve...and that all your football teams won!

Happy New Year! Our evening was spent quietly at home, just the four of us. No big deal, no special celebration.

As for football, you know how my Colts did. Our big college game isn't until next Monday.

Go Bucks!

Aw yes, I used to spend the New Year's with Jose a lot. He's a good friend some of the time...lol.

I love the tile. I think the brown grout will be just perfect.

Happy New Year! Looks like a great celebration.

The tile is just gorgeous. I bet you can't wait to move in.

desert songbird - Yeah, I saw the Colts game and was a bit sad. But then, there's the playoffs! I can't WAIT until Monday night's game!

sandy - I think it was the champagne that did me in - the Miller Chill did NOT mix well.

kaycie - thanks - and I'm actually glad the holidays are over, so now I can really feel like packing!

We (my son) set off fireworks after midnight. About 12 big ones. I made chex mix and muddy buddies and we discovered I had some sparkling grape juice in the refrigerator unopened. We don't drink alcohol so it was a good find. I made MM sandwiches for supper and it was good too. I read some great laughs on Kellyjean's blog. Watched part of Psycho on hdtv. Oh it was a happening night for us! :D I did enjoy myself though.

We went to the cinema came home and played games to keep the grandchildren awake and then watched everyone else's fireworks from our top bedroom window (not that we are too mean to buy our own!!) We get a great view of the neighbourhood with the window wide open. Oh this was accompanied by a few glasses of bubbly.
The floor looks good.

Oooh! I love the tile! Good call on the dark-brown grout. I did the same in my boys' bathroom. They were 3 and 2 when we moved in the house so I KNEW I'd be cleaning pee off the floor - the dark grout worked like a charm ;)

Fireworks are banned in most of our country. Too many idiots blew off their hands and aimed at people's eyes, I suspect.
Young Robbie Maddison is a fellow Aussie. He also seems like a nutcase to attempt such hijinks.

I'm sure you had mixed emotions celebrating this year. Looks like you all enjoyed yourselves though and soon you'll be in your new place. :)

I LOVE your new floor!

Glad you ended the year with a bang! That adorable house deserved a party.

It was freezing there? It's FIVE degrees here! C'mon over!

Gorgeous tile! You have great taste. And it looks like you throw a heck of a party. Have a great 2008 (I'm still so high on pain meds I thought it was 2009- pathetic, huh)

(I don't know where Melissa went, but I won't leave you if you don't leave me.)

Sorry I missed the shindig. It was bit too far to walk! Looks as though the usual crowd was in attendance.

Nice floor.

Sounds like you had a great time. Funny about the "cold". It was only -20˚C on New Years Eve and we were outside enjoying the festivities.

Happy New Year!!

real live lesbian - it WAS a good time. And on the new floor, if someone drops a beer, it will shatter.

junebug - sounds like a lot LESS stress than preparing for a crew...hope you got photos of the fireworks!

chrisb - thanks, and I'll be the fireworks were pretty. I can't wait to set off real ones next year.

rick - you're a good artist!

m@ - Deep South, remember? Then again, I had a gay friend AND a guy from Japan in attendance, so doesn't that help?

susan in va - SO good to know we made the right choice, there - I just couldn't envision me scrubbing white grout with a toothbrush, you know?

theotherbear - sorry to hear about the ban. However, blowing off a body part is like a rite of passage in this part of the USA. That was ONE CRAZY AUSSIE!

lisa's chaos - you are so right. However, I DO feel like I can go ahead and pack my stuff now.

bond - you were about 90 miles east of me - but if you had stayed on 270 for eons? Then you would have made it within 30 mins of me!

kila - thanks! And it was 19 this morning...so I am a popsicle. I applaud anyone who can survive these temperatures!

simply jenn - I promise, I won't leave. With melissa AND WT gone, we have to stay the course!

arkansas songbird - thanks! The dude from Japan was an extra twist to the party mix. You will NOT want to miss next year's bash, tho!

sirdar - I guess I'm just a warm weather kinda girl. I would never leave the house, if I lived any further north!

bermudabluez - I can't wait, you're right! Show up for next year's party - we can have REAL fireworks, then!

tiger lamb girl - Happy New Year to you as well! And thank you - I'm hoping they really hide the dirt.

Our New Year was quiet. Take one pregant daughter, two sick grandchildren, a couple old fuddy duddies, stir.. don't shake.

nekkid lizard lady - thanks, and I'm hoping our new home has enough room for even MORE friends.
