Fun Monday - Bedside

Whew - we made it past the anniversary of Fun Monday, and it's still going strong with this week's hostess being AOJ & The Lurchers! The assignment this week was to show our bedside tables.

However, Roger has already packed all the stuff on his "bedside table," which also happens to be our computer desk:In a few weeks, after our big move, he will have a REAL bedside table, as will I. My bedside table is a very tall dresser - and it's a total pain to reach my alarm clock in the morning. It also serves as a dumping place for The Offspring's stuff - and a resting place for my jewelry:I have several beautiful jewelry boxes, but it's SO MUCH EASIER to just grab something out of an open box than to physically open a drawer, you know? Or heaven forbid, LIFT THE LID of a jewelry box. I'm too lazy busy for that.

Go check our some interesting bedside stuff! Oh, and I've volunteered to host next week, so check back here tomorrow for your assignment. I promise, it will require your MIND...and no photos, unless you need them to illustrate your assignment.

I think it's funny how two sides of the same bed can be so different! Great post.

Glad to see that mention of sharing your table/chest top with daughter. Judging from your profile, I didn't take you for a turquoise blue bow kind of girl!

We'll have to use our minds next week. . .can you recommend an exercise regimen?

Alison said...

I am with you on the jewelry boxes!! I have a few "jewelry dishes" I call them on my dresser. I finally got rid of the jewelry boxes!!

I do the same with my jewelry. There are some pretty interesting pieces because many of them have 'joined' together, creating one big glob of jewelry.
Hey, I'm in next week...sight unseen.

Oh no, a Fun Monday that will require our minds. I better study. Years ago, I bought a few cheap plastic boxes with compartments for my jewelry. Before that I used an empty egg carton, However, I confess to sometimes leaving my jewelry in little piles in various places around the house.

What a great idea about the jewelry! I lose jewelry to the point I don't even wear it anymore. Are you excited about moving? Be sure to post lots of pics.

laurie - glad I'm not the only one - and my Mondays are so hectic at work, it sure does help to see the early birds!

sandy - and when we move? WE ARE SWITCHING SIDES. THAT should be interesting, after 15 years of sleeping in the same bed!

faye - yeah, you spotted the bow that is NOT mine! And for next week, I'm thinking of a movie...

alison - AHA! Dishes! A much better (and prettier) solution! I will add that to my long list of things to buy.

swampy - duly noted - AND...I have some of those jewelry globs, too!

mjd - another great idea - I actually saw a box for fishing lures that would work for me, too. And don't sweat next week - I'll post early Tuesday, to give everyone time to think.

nekked lizard lady - VERY excited about moving. NOT excited that my husband is packing everything in sight, and throwing away stuff I wanted to keep! It will be in the next two weeks. OH, and I find myself wearing the same dang jewelry, every day.

Kaytabug said...

I have my jewelry thrown about, at least you have yours in open boxes! I also have a glob or 2 of jewelery.

Next weeks...I saw mention of "thinking of a movie" I am intrigued...I'd put my hat in the ring now but if it is make your own I'd be out...so I will wait til Tuesday!!! Looking fwd to it!

Kim said...

That looks like the top of my mom's dresser. She likes to have all of her jewelry visible, too.

I want to see the new bedside tables after the move!

Count me in for next week!

I keep a lot of my jewelry in boxes, too. I just keep the boxes in drawers otherwise, as often as I clean house, my jewels would have dust and spiderwebs on them.

Tiggerlane said...

kaytabug - no worries! It took me ALL of Fun Monday one week to post a movie! It's a theme BASED on a movie premise...you'll be pleased.

kaycie - not to disappoint, but the new bedside tables are actually going to be our old living room endtables. I bought new living room furniture, so I'm rearranging.

arkansassongbird - Funny! I guess I'd better check for dust bunnies in the jewelry. I'm hoping our packing and purging process will help me "reorganize" and get rid of the unslightly boxes.

It is good to have a dual purpose night stand. Saves time and space because if you both had a night stand, you would still have a computer desk and dresser in your room and that might be a lot of furniture to keep in there...

So if I understand well, you are blogging from your bedroom !
I have a sidebed table but it is quite boring. I go to bed and fall asleep, lol !

Your brave to be so close to moving AND hosting the next Fun Monday. Well brave or slightly crazy :o) I have my jewelry out like that too because I havent't found a good solid jewelry case I like...plus like you say, it's easier to grab when it's out like this.

I have lost so much jewellery over the years because it just got put where it was put rather than in a box that I am learning to at least put it in a drawer now! That said, my every day earrings are sitting on top of my bedside table this morning after I changed them for a night out! I'm still wearing my posh ones!

Hootin Anni said...

ooops. I forgot to comment. I've had your tab open now 'cause I wanted to add your link to 'the next hostess' on my Monday's blog and forgot to close the tab!

Jewelry in a box....now that makes sense to me! More convenient to say the least. [and less likely to not lose pieces 'cause it's right there within your reach]

Happy Fun Monday. I hope you can find time to drop by for a visit today.

Tiggerlane said...

sirdar - it would be too much, and in the new house, the computer will have its own room.

gattina - if I'm not in my office at work blogging, this is definitely my blogging spot.

joy t. - glad I'm not alone! And yeah, I'm brave AND crazy - at least crazy, for sure.

aoj & the lurchers - nothing like a fancy pair of earrings to make a girl feel GREAT! I am really going to attempt some self-discipline in the new house.

hootin' anni - I'm going to do my best to visit everyone - and the only drawback to the jewelry situation? Easy for thieves to find!

Did I see you say you are switching sides after you move. How can that be? I wonder if you'll be able to sleep. Oh and next week is going to require my brain??

Beckie said...

The assignment for next week sounds hard if I only have to use my mind - I am in trouble.

Your bed - we have one like that - I love it!

Anonymous said...

You are switching sides??? We can't even seem to switch sides in a hotel! It'll be interesting to see how that works out.

Please sign me up for next week. I'm willing to take on whatever it is!

wakeupandsmellthecoffee said...

Ah, you have a long way to go to reach my level of messiness, though.

Sayre said...

I have to keep a smallish table - if I had a big one, I'd fill it up with even MORE stuff! A dresser next to my bed would be too much temptation.

the rotten correspondent said...

I'm too busy (!) to use a jewelry box too, if you're looking for company. It's going to be so cool when you're in the new place. Just a couple of weeks? Woo Hoo!

Debs said...

I am just now getting back into the swing of things. I forgot all about Fun Monday this week. So sign me up for next week. I can't wait to see our assignment. :D

Tiggerlane said...

ellen b - well, it just so happens that the BATHROOM DOOR will be on my "old" side of the bed - so guess who really wants to switch? Don't worry about the assignment - it's easy!

beckie - this will soon be The Offspring's bed - we are graduating to KING! And don't worry about next week - you'll have plenty of time!

susan - hubby likes to switch to be close to the door (protectiveness) in hotels. And you are signed up!

wakeupandsmellthecoffee - I have a whole new house to mess up - shouldn't take me too long.

sayre - notice how I only showed PART of the dresser? I'm sneaky that way.

the rotten correspondent - it will be awesome - IF I can get rid of all the dang sheetrock dust, sawdust and other "filth" that the construction process has left behind!

debs - glad you are back! You are signed up, brave one!

Jill said...

add me for next week. and i'm posting the 'blurb' on blog 365 to try and get more visitors to sign up for fun monday, so if you get it to me as soon as you have it then i can publicize it

ChrisB said...

I find I wear the same bits of jewellery because I'm just too lazy to get things out of the boxes, so having out is far more sensible.

I'll be back tomorrow to see the assignment~not sure if my mind will cope with anything too difficult!

Robinella said...

What is worse than lifting the lid of a jewelry box is remembering where the key is that keeps it locked up tight from two very messy, nosy, rough boys. No wonder I don't wear jewelry that much. Too much effort. :-)

Unknown said...

SO the move is getting closer?! Yea!! I've done that tall dresser next to the bed thing, not fun!

Tiggerlane said...

lil mouse - it will be posted sometime before 10:30PM, CST. And you are added! Thanks for working on getting us more exposure.

chrisb - great minds think alike. And don't worry - it's fun!

robinella - hmmm...I wonder if it would work on a snarky 14 y/o girl who likes to "borrow" Mom's earrings?

lisa's chaos - in a few weeks - and the tall dresser makes me grope for my alarm clock!

Mariposa said...

I just put my jewelry on top of my bedside tables too...

Happy MM!

Vinny "Bond" Marini said...

I have an idea... just wear all your jewelry all the time....

bwahahahahahahahahahaha

well, it would be easier...

Peter said...

I'll bet you are getting anxious about the move now its getting so close.
One Australian Peter I know is very tidy and his name starts with Willowtree, others ... like me just clear a bit of space in the clutter before taking photos.... sorry

kitten said...

I can't wait till you get in your new place.
Girl! You know I wouldn't ban you from my blog. We just a few men that do Fun Monday so I was nice. hehehehehehe!
You were right thou. It's called Revelation. Gosh! I need a table with drawers!

kitten said...

PS. Please sign me up for next week~

Serina Hope said...

Ican't imagine switching sides...I think I would die.

Courtney said...

I am with you on the jewelry box thing. Too much trouble to open a drawer!

Tiggerlane said...

mariposa - I'm not alone! And I only thru half of the FMondayers, so I'll visit the rest tomorrow.

bond - then I'd look like one of those crazy old bag ladies - or wait, do I look like that already?

peter - the painters finished today, so the cleaning and moving begin! And you weren't supposed to clean!

kitten - thanks - I never know when my mouth (typing) might get me banned - and you are duly added!

serina hope - I want to switch - badly, b/c Roger always starts on his left side, facing AWAY from me...I like to face him when we go to bed, so we'll see if he "starts" differently when he switches.

southern doll - WOOHOO! Lazy Jewelry Girls, Unite!

My jewelry ends up in 4 or 5 specific spots around the house, depending on where I am when I take it off. Drives my hubby crazy.

Linda said...

Good for you for hosting next week - I'm looking forward to it. Fun post on your jewelery - it's fun to get to know people this intimately!

the planet of janet said...

i love the concept of the open boxes for your jewelry. i'm with ya there, sister!!!!

Tiggerlane said...

mamalang - I can relate - my husband is a neat freak, and he would NEVER let me get away with that. But the kid? She does it, and he only gripes to me.

linda - oh, if you could have seen INSIDE the drawers. I don't know if you guys want to know me THAT intimately.

janet - I'm thinking we need to form a club!

Kila said...

At least your jewelry is in boxes! Mine is just laying on the dresser.

You wear glasses? I'm trying to picture you with them on...

Anonymous said...

It really is such a workout to lift those lids on jewelry boxes. I totally understand your dilemma.

Tiggerlane said...

kila - I RARELY wear them - I have bad vision in one eye, and only need them when I'm laying on my left side, and the right eye is the only one seeing the television. Maybe I'll post a photo!

nikki - thanks for understanding - there's a group of us on here who are the same - amazing!

Sauntering Soul said...

I have a table in my room which is drowning in jewelry. I really need to figure out a better way to store it. I love jewelry - the funkier the better!

Karina said...

HAha....I love the jewelry box statement. My FM post was mostly about my own jewelry box, but if I kept my stuff in boxes like you, I'm afradi I'd never find anything. ;-)

Patience-please said...

Ha! I have the same "jewelry boxes" as you. And the formal one sits, empty mostly, gathering dust on the dresser.

Nice to meet you-
Patience

Tiggerlane said...

suantering soul - I love it, too - but never can sort it all out...I need a new system.

karina - I can't find anything. Be assured.

patience-please - good to meet you, too! Glad you are participating in Fun Monday!
