Well, our first gig is finally behind us! It was a LOT of fun, and the audience seemed to think we were okay...so we might do this again! I know I haven't blogged much lately, but hope to get back into it next week. I'm leaving today to attend the Arkansas All State Choir clinic and conference with The Offspring, and then Monday the dreaded yanking of the wisdom tooth. Pray for my well-being!
And, as promised, the first Youtube video of our band - 7th Wave! I'm the bouncy little retard in black:
HONEST feedback is appreciated! And yeah, I know I could stand to lose about 10 pounds. Sue me. I like cake.

The lead singer has a great voice, and yours compliments hers well, but you need to bring your harmony out a bit, Tiff, and your singer needs to loosen up her movements a bit. Nerves, I know.
It's a bit percussive heavy; the mix needs to bring out the guitars a tad more, and even a touch more bass would be great. I couldn't hear the keyboard at all.
Oh, sorry! Overall, great fun! Well done for first time out!
Hey, you guys sound great! I do agree with Songbird's comments. Did you have someone mixing the sound? That always seems to be the hard job. Getting someone really good who cares. I really thought the best sound was when the men added their voices. You look quite comfortable up there. We are coming back to the Mena area during spring break to 4 wheel again. I think this time we are going to Mill Creek trails near Ozark/St. Francis National Forest. I would like to meet you and I'm sure my husband would like to meet your hubby.
Especially liked that guitar intro! :D Say I listened to your Fleetwood Mac and other couple songs over on Youtube. Very good. "Have you ever seen the Rain", I always like that song.
It's hard to mix drums. You need to get a clear lucite shield around them possibly to keep stage sound level down. We play on stage at church with the music team. Eddie plays the electric guitar and I play one of the keyboards. Monitor sound is always an issue.
I really wanted to attend the show, but the grandkids and Mardi Gras were calling.
An Arkies Musings
I think you guys sounded pretty good - but I agree with Desert Songbird...the other girl looked VERY nervous and tight on the stage.
Well...I'd say for a first time out it was pretty good. Nobody looked like they screwed up, nobody left....that is all positive!! I would imagine the recording would sound better if it were a professional recording, but it was from a good camcorder so it probably didn't do your song justice. Keep on Rockin'
I'd like to come hear you in person.
A cheap video didn't do you justice.
(Yes - the other lady singing needed to wear something more like what you wore and relax)
Aw rats...the video doesn't load for me...I'll go down to my PC and see if it works there.
Just wanted to fly by and say hello. I've not been doing much blog hopping these days and wanted to see what you're up to.
we think you rock
Nick, Beck, Ellen, Rockford, Sparky and Sarah
this is awesome, i think you might be the only one to notice the 10 pounds b/c you look great.
for a first time out, i think it's outstanding.
If there is any hot married woman in America that does not want to lose ten pounds? I didn't think so. You sound good and it's a great first time out. I wanted to pick up the pace a bit because I always want to dance, but it appears your audience did not come for that. They are way too sober.
I agree with Songbird. But it was pretty good. Actually the singer looked a bit like she was from WWF Smackdown.
You have a million times more guts than I do! Great job! I enjoyed it ;0)
I'm not musical enough to comment on technical things. However, it looked like you were having fun and I enjoyed it. Would have liked to see some close up shots. Maybe next time!
I am glad other mentioned the mix, as the drums were overpowering...Not it is hard to tell from a video and maybe live it was different.
Away from the technical, you guys definitely have a good sound and did a great job...
Do you do weddings (for food and drink?) LOL
Desert Songbird - I think the sound was better in the house...and believe it or not, we sing this song unison for the most part! LOL! Must be why my harmonies...were...uh..missing...guess I should have mentioned that! We are hoping to actually record ourselves in a better setting, b/c you're right - very hard to hear the music.
Junebug - we totally need to meet! Awesome! And yeah - the sound on the video is nothing like what it was in the venue, so it was mixed pretty good if you were hearing it with real ears live. I had to wear an in-ear monitor to hear what was going on, though. And you're right about the drum shield...I think we need a band account!
richies - mardi gras? I'm jealous.
Karmyn R - maybe it was all my flailing beside her that made her appear tight? B/c seriously, I was like having seizures on stage.
sirdar - many thanks!
Pamela - I hope we can play again soon...and to be honest, when I saw what Jeri was wearing, I was so jealous! She looked so pretty - and me? Always in black....
Swampy - you and me both - e-mail me and I'll send you the youtube link!
Nick, Beck, Ellen, Rockford, Sparky and Sarah - thanks so much!
M@ - no lie, like we haven't practiced for, like, EVAH.
dailypiglet - thanks so much! And your words are definitely those of someone who has NOT seen me naked.
Spellbound - you are so right - the age of the crowd really worried me. But our next gig should have a bit younger crowd, so we'll see how that goes. Plus, we didn't go on stage until two hours into this show...maybe their butts were numb?
WT - I promise, I could smack you down with one hand tied behind my back. Just sayin'.
Tracey - thanks! Not sure if it is guts or loads of crazy, but we did it!
ChrisB - I'm hoping to get more next time...we shall see!
Bond - heck, yes, we'll do weddings! Just no bars...yet...LOL! And yeah - the sound was SO different in the place and in the monitors.
