A House Update...with Eyebrow!

I tell ya, great minds think ALIKE! Julie went furniture shopping in the SAME state on the SAME day that we went! I know our choices weren't the same, but Roger and I were pretty decisive and actually purchased the following items. First, is our new bed, which has tile accents that will complement our flooring:Ironically, without realizing it at the time, we chose end tables and a sofa table from the same grouping. I couldn't find a photo of anything but a coffee table, but this will give you a general idea:We don't need a coffee table. And I felt really strange carrying around my piece of floor tile to compare to all the furniture, but hey - it HAD to match! And the tables will really pull out some of the obscure colors in our tile. They also will NOT have wheels. Next, our double-reclining sofas:Oddly enough, the price of the sofa was only $20 more than the loveseat - and how many people really want to sit on a loveseat? So we went ahead and got TWO sofas.

The plumbers have "stobbed" everything in - including the cool stuff for our master shower:You can see what it might look like if you go back to this post, except that the controls are moved to the right of the shower head and body sprayers, so that I won't get all wet turning it on to warm up in the morning. And guess what we WON'T be having? A URINAL. Roger and the builder had a discussion about how we would be using the bonus room, and well, I think Roger wants the girls to feel welcome. The builder is concerned about resale. Sheesh - try to do something for the guy, and we end up with a toilet instead. Oh well, it was worth trying for!

Ronald, Cavin and Tony went to work building the "eyebrow" roofing that will go around the garage. They look much happier now that the temperatures are not in the 100-degree range:If you don't know what an "eyebrow" is, this will give you some idea:And guess who else came to visit? Our best friends, who also happen to be in the heating and air business! These are the "boots" where the heating and air conditioning will come shooting out of the floor:And even more stuff for the bonus room upstairs:And guess who else was wandering through our new home? Electricians! And they spent a lot of time getting about a fourth of the outlets done in the house - and left these wires hanging around to tease the breaker box:And GUESS WHAT they are installing at the house TODAY?!?!? Windows and doors! Windows and doors! WOOHOO! And I was glad to see the E-ratings on all the windows were .28. Energy Star rated, to boot!I'm sure things will slow down on our house soon, but the builder seems sure that we will be in by Christmas. I hope so, since The Offspring's birthday is on the 26th. That way, I can say, "Merry Christmas. Happy Birthday. Here's your present!"

I am just amazed at the speed this house is coming together! Wow!

I can't believe the sofa was only $20 more! I wonder if they did that on purpose. Perhaps there was a disgruntled employee tagging items and planning his escape via hobo cart? ;)

In by Christmas, now that really would be something to celebrate.

Looks great so far.

Looking great.
I still don't get what eyebrows on a house are, but I do remember as a kid we used to walk past a house that I called 'the house with no eyebrows'. It was a house that did not have eaves so looked kind of bare and weird.

I like seeing those green trees so close by

melissa - Here in Arkansas, I might even be able to find hobo carts at a yard sale to use as YARD decoration! Brilliant!

willowtree - is the electrician moving along okay? Seriously, I value your input.

theotherbear - I'm glad our builder isn't letting me do anything that looks stupid. The "eyebrow" was his idea - actually looks REALLY good on the garage side of the house.

pamela - Oh, girl, just you wait until FALL!

As long as all the wires are in before the sheetrock goes up, he's doing just fine. As so far he seems to be keeping up.

chrisb - Thanks! I REALLY want my tree in one of those windows!

willowtree - right now, looks like he'll be finished by the first week of october. the next post will feature much more of his work.

occidental girl - wanna help me pick ceiling fans and lights?

R.O. - I'm getting antsy now - and there's SO much left to do...

desert songbird - Understand completely - we are finally having night temps in the 60's - wanna move here?

wolfbaby - thanks! I feel humbled by it - like I don't deserve it. But if you could see where I've been living for the last 14 years- it's like moving from the slum into the Taj Mahal!
