Sayre is this week's hostess for Fun Monday, and she wanted to see our Halloween costumes...or pumpkins! When I read the assignment, I remembered dressing up one year in a black garbage bag with autumn leaf garland poking out of it...while carrying a rake. Could I find the photo? No. One year, in the midst of the scandal that was Michael Jackson - I dressed up as him, complete with fake baby and face mask, ready to dangle said prop over any balcony I could find. Photos? Nope. I figured I would cheat and use the kid's costumes, and then I realized that I had already posted my favorite Halloween costumes that The Offspring has sported here. However, I found this one from 2003. It indicated the beginning of a mode of dress that became slightly less garish, but similar in spirit:
However, I WILL share a pumpkin project from a few years ago. The Offspring had to enter a contest at the middle school and wanted something TOTALLY DIFFERENT. So, we made this little guy out of pipe cleaners, gourds, mushrooms and a cucumber. We even put a strobe light inside:We got the idea from a web site, and when we finished the project and sent it to them, they displayed it here!
I think she won second place for this monstrosity - and let me tell you, skinned cucumbers get REALLY nasty looking after a few days!
Now, go check out the other participants!

bedlam - I haven't scared my kid with a costume. I scare her when I get mad...LOL! Well, not so much now.
sayre - yeah, the pumpkin is a little creepy, with the bulging eyes and all. And yeah - the kid went punk on me, shortly after that costume party.
{i}post - thanks - and he made me giggle when we were working on him.
jan - thank you! The mushroom ears were the idea of the produce guy.
OMG, that is the most creative pumpkin I have EVER SEEN!!! I think I need to go buy a pumpkin and pack up the terracotta one I usually put out. The real ones are MUCH better!
That pumpkin is incredible - what a great job! I love your post!
The pumpkin is a work of art ! I love it...too bad the skinned cucumber didn't last...maybe next time, use a fake one.
Great costume. Someone is just too creative for her own good !
Have a wonderful week.
Thanks for stopping by today.
The pumpkin really is someting else, WOW. I love Offspring's costume. I dream of doing something radical with my hair and dressing up like Joan Jett for Halloween.
That last photo is... profane.
I'm lovin' that pumpkin!!!!
You've GOT to learn to take pictures of yourself at Halloween! Inquiring minds want to SEE YOU!
The Offspring sure adds a lot of spice to your life :)
That pumpkin is a masterpiece !! congratulations what a phantasy !!
Offspring's costume reminds me of my 13 year old neighbor coming over to see if I might have an extra dog choke chain that he could wear to a concert. He already had the eyeliner and hair product covered!
So this prize winning pumpkin is what can happen when your mind runs free? Scary!
That pumpkin is cool and her costumes were amazing. I wonder what she'll wear this year?? :D
swampangel65 - the one I made would have been a LOT LESS WORK if I had just stuck to regular teeth...
sandcastle momma - many thanks!
swampy - girl, if you know where to get a FAKE cucumber, please let me know. Please.
molly - you SO should! That would be an awesome costume!

gattina - thanks - imagination is not the ONLY thing that runs wild in our family!
faye - that sounds like just the kind of little dude my kid would fall in love with. And yeah, we're not normal, I don't think.
jo beaufoix - she wants to go as a club kid...with fuzzy leg warmers. I'm sure there will be photos soon!
You have the best pumpkins around. Cheers Tigger!!
I give you the award for most original pumpkin, how creative. You gave me a good idea for a costume this year--a bag of leaves, how easy is that! Have a great day!
That pumpkin is AWESOME!
Great post, Tig! I know when I'm looking for pictures of a certain thing, I can never find them! That pumpkin sure must have taken a ton of work! It's awesome!
