Fun Monday Do-Overs

Fun Monday this week is being held at the Irish Coffeehouse, which I hope serves up some Irish Cream in their coffee...I need some this morning! Monday, and I'm running late...

She wanted to know what our career aspirations were as a child, and what they are now. Well, what little girl growing up in the '70s didn't want to be a rock star? Oh...was I the only one? I recently attended a Flyleaf concert with my daughter and her friends, and just watching the lead singer get into the music made that dream come flooding back. I was always into music and imagined being on stage with a microphone, belting out tunes...while in reality I was chained to my piano, practicing Mozart and Bach for endless hours.

Now? Well, I'm more realistic. After I finish this "first" career in real estate, I would like to take advantage of the fact that I am NOT afraid to speak in public. Working as adjunct faculty at the local community college was a GREAT experience that I wouldn't mind exploring more. I would love to teach, but...mind you...only at the university level. Something about teaching people to "think outside the box" and see things from a different perspective appeals to me. I'd just have to work on my Californitexarkansan accent a bit, so I'm understood.

Now, go check out all the dreams of the other Fun Monday participants!

You could also be one of those inspirational speakers if all else fails.

Me and my gal pals in music school all wanted to be Pat Benatar in the worst way. I got really pissed when I heard what kind of money Madonna was making 'cuz I KNEW I could sing better than she does!

shauna - a STRANGER! Hey, Girl! Good to see you are alive! I'll have to visit!

desert songbird - OMG...yes, you can! And it really does suck about her...she is HORRIBLE live.

aoj and the lurchers - I'll have to start visiting participants...that's cool!

There's something about teaching adults that really intimidates me. I'll stick with the little ones that I *know* I'm still smarter than! :D

I would love to teach at the university too. Problem is, I am afraid I would know less than them. That wouldn't work out so well!

What a cool university professor you would be--what subject? For sure there would be music as a teaching prop, right? Back to the classical discipline--wouldn't that make you a better rocker?

I came up during the '80s (and early '90s).... Wore a Guns 'N Roses T-shirt (purchased at a discount department store) to my first day of high school. Fuck yeah, it was black. Heavy cotton, too.

I too wanted to be a famous singer. Any genre would be fine, but I lack an important quality - a really good voice.

And yes, there are a lot of teachers and aspiring teachers this week!

I always wanted to be a singer also..but I have absolutely zero talent!!!

I can definately see you on a stage or at the front of a classroom. Oh, maybe you could teach the "pre-licensing" or "continuing education" real estate clases at the local college (or is that what you already did?).

I reckon you have the perfect look for a pop star.

Teaching has definitely come out the top profession!

Rockstar does seem to fit you. In an earlier post, you spoke about singing in the car with your daughter. I am sure that you have many professorial years ahead of you. Or you could be a motivational speaker, preacher, or of course, a Rockstar.

I like to sing, I just can't carry a tune. I only sing with the kids at home. So the public is safe. :)

I totally wanted to be Cyndi Lauper because she was super cool, sang, traveled and made videos- what more could a girl want? lol

Teaching at a Uni would probably be very interesting and fun! Never thought of that one!

susan - it's all in the subject matter - I'm fairly confident, so that helps a lot!

ipost - I was surprised how much I had to brush up on to get ready for class - it was almost as hard on me as it was for them!

faye - gotta stick with what I'm comfortable with - leadership, HR, business, etc...but I also love to help people learn to write better. And TOTALLY helps with the rockin', I think!

m@ - but do you have all the cds?

cruise mom - I'll have to check the participants - and I'm lacking that voice, too - maybe with training? Oh, wait, old dog, new tricks issue.

alison - there MUST be a way to learn singing, dontcha think? If Britney can learn...

momto3cubs - I taught HR management, but that is a GREAT idea - I would enjoy that...may have to check into that!

chrisb - just gotta work on my butt and abs...I don't show you guys those!

molly - you may be right - I mean, look how old Mick and the boys are! And I think I might be better lookin'!

debs - singing with the kiddos is the BEST!

irish coffeehouse - i could compete with Cyndi in looks, too. She was fun!

I wants to be a fireman or trashman because you get to ride on a big truck.

Pamela said...

I wanted to be all those things growing up.
... now I would just like to be skinny and rich. hee hee.

I bet you could have made it as a rock star, too.

Tiggerlane said...

dr zibbs - yeah, and then you wouldn't have to pay for the gas, either.

pamela - skinny and rich - I want to be that, too! And I probably wouldn't have survived all the drugs and alcohol in the rock star life...maybe I would have died young?
