Fun Monday Quirks

Lisa's Chaos is this week's hostess for Fun Monday, and did I miss something here? I know I've been a negligent blogger, but did you notice that stuff has changed A LOT at her place? I could have SWORN there was some black/pink fontage going on over there...and yet...today...white and green...

Smack me.

Well, she wants to know about our quirks, and I've got enough blog material right there that I should be ashamed about posting so infrequently.

1. I whistle Christmas songs and military songs all year, especially at work. Why military songs? Well, I got hooked on them in college when watching the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band march and play. I know, Band Geek.

2. I absolutely cannot leave the volume level of the television on an odd number, unless it is a multiple of 5. JUST. CAN'T. It must be 12, not 11. It mustn't stay on 23, but at least be 24. I could handle 25, but that would probably be too loud.

3. I listen to new music every week, and when I find that song? OMG...I will drive anyone within listening distance of my vehicle absolutely BONKERS by playing that thing ad nauseum, at ear-splitting decibels. (I don't care about my ears - they were split years ago.) I know the locals think my daughter and I are psychotic from the way we sing and thump around town like a couple of heathens in my car. But every week, there will be a song or two we are junkies for. This weekend? It was Robyn:
Now, go to Lisa's pyschedelic place and check out the other Fun Mondayers!

Oh my goodness! I have that same quirk with the TV volume!!! (I forgot about it until i read yours, but I have the exact same thing!)

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one!

Your humming makes me think of my son. That kid cannot play with anything without providing his own soundtrack.

I became worried that I had OCD after putting my quirks in writing, but after reading a few other entries I'm not feeling so anxious!

I noticed all of your quirks have to do with listening (humming songs, listening to new songs, and TV volume)! Now that is quirky! :0)

The volume ditty? Now that's just plain weird! [kidding]

My FM is posted...come on over!!

Good video choice, very retro. That is quirky about the tv volume.

iamwhoiam - I'm still listening to it this morning!

heather - I thought I was alone, too! I'm glad we're freakish together!

desert songbird - I think our lives have soundtracks, if we truly listen...

arkansas songbird - you and I both know I could have written PAGES about my quirks.

tracey_ipost - I think it's b/c I'm a musical freak. I would shrivel and die if I went a day without music!

hootin' anni - OCD AND bizarro, I know...I'll be by, for sure!

jeanna - my kid keeps my in retro style...and the volume thing weirds even ME out!

I have this figured out. The quirks that you have mentioned have to do with music (well the TV might be playing music.)It sounds like great fun to share the music thing with your daughter. That tune is kind of playing in my head right now.

aoj & the lurchers - I think my entire blog could be themed around my quirks.

bond - is that an evil laugh? I was DRUM MAJOR in junior high AND high school...how's that for geekiness?

molly - glad you liked the song - addictive, isn't it? And I didn't realize that it was all music/sound until today - in fact, I have other musical quirks, too!

singing in the car is so much fun!! I love it...

It was so fun to catch up with you again. I would love to see you driving 'round town thumping. :) Go girl! I get the same way when I am enjoying a song.

And shhh, but I hum Christmas songs all year long. Dunno why.

Thanx for playing!

Like the odd number quirk. Now for me I would probably leave it on an odd number. I retired from the Dept of Defense so military songs are not a weird habit to me. Stay light and keep on living.

I have a few number quirks myself, counting things, etc.

Just had to sneak that Hact that way if I dd.ullaballo in there, didn't ya?! I don't really listen to music, but I think I would

That's just a really great thing that you and daughter share a love of music--keeps you communicating for sure.

Awhile since I visited your blog. Think you were building a house. Hope you're all settled in it and that it's just6 to your liking.

Oh t.v. volume thing cracks me up. :)

my daughter and I do the same thing!!! too funny!!

As a Robin, I found her/him disturbing. But like his/her music.

That volume thing is an issue! haha

Never heard of the "can't leave the volume on an odd number" quirk before. Yep, that's a quirk, alright.

Ari_1965 said...

I think I may need that song.

You are such a cool mom!

Pamela said...

whistling girls and crowing hens My mom used to say they all came to no good ends ha ha....

You proved her wrong!

Dude, the tv volume thing is weird! I'm the same when I find a song I love. Funny it doesn't drive me bonkers when I do it, but when my 13 year old plays the same dang song over and over I want to stuff him in a closet.

M@ said...

I have trouble w/ odd numbers too but 74 is too cold on my AC and 76 is too hot....

I'm not sure what to do. i have no alternative.

grace - glad to have a partner in crime!

lisaschaos - it's good to be back! And thanks for hosting!

olive - a military song fan! WOOHOO! And I could never watch tv with you...

erin - I like to think of the number quirks as the smart-people quirks.

anglophilefootballfanatic - OMG...you got me! Hey, you been drinking? :-)

faye - yes, totally settled and lovin' it, except for the coyotes and spiders...but LOVE the house!

rebecca - so bizarre, but one of my best friends has this quirk, too - odd that everyone else thinks it's rare. He and I have no trouble watching tv together.

alison - you need to drive around here, so I don't look so out of place!

robinella - I totally agree! I thought it was a guy in drag at first...like a boy...but it really is a girl - just bushy brows.

nekked lizard lady - hope it's not a quirk that will put my in pyschotherapy for uncontrollable OCD.

ari_1965 - it's one I don't mind my daughter singing, that's for sure!

momto3cubs - helps that I only have ONE to raise! Thanks!

pamela - hmmm..then again, I haven't quite reached the end...I could prove her right!

nikki - what's sad is that the kiddo is the one who tends to get me hooked.

m@ - I said 75 was acceptable...multiples of five a bother for you?

karisma said...

Hmmm I would not call songs a quirk. Perfectly normal if you ask me!

Vinny "Bond" Marini said...

Totally evil laugh.... oooooo short skirt...maybe some fringe on the bottom....nice legs and white boots?

Eve said...

You are as quirky as the rest of us and maybe more than some. Probably less than others.

Thanks for stopping by to see me.

Jo Beaufoix said...

The TV volume one made me giggle, and I love that you and your daughter drive around and sing together.:D

Tiggerlane said...

karisma - dang, now I have to think of quirks.

bond - SHORTS...no fringe, and definitely the white boots!

eve - hopefully more than some, or you're all weirdos! And you're welcome.

jo beaufoix - it's a lot of fun, and her friends think it's cool, too.

karisma said...

I know! You like ridiculously high shoes right? AND you don't blog enough these days right?????

Tiggerlane said...

karisma - oh, those are traits at this point, long and ingrained.

bernard n. shull - WTF? Am I gonna have to turn on WV again?
