Fun Monday Collections

Fun Monday's hostess this week is Mariposa, who wants to see our collections! Since you have all seen my house, I'm hoping you don't show up in the middle of the night and steal mine...and no, it's not toenail clippings. I collect hand-blown glass egg paperweights.

Yeah, I know, WEIRD. And all I remember is that my mother sent me one for a present one year, and I was hooked. Most of my eggs are from the Glass Eye Studios in California. A very few are not, including a monster egg on the bottom shelf of my display case...which I'm not gonna tell you about. Nope. Can't. Because there ARE wacky people on the 'net who might look it up, find it here, and break into my house to steal it.

I used to have a lot of them on lightstands, so that colored lights would shine up thru them and illuminate the colors. Right now, I haven't even finished unpacking them all - so here is what we have displayed so far:
I have also developed an interest in other types of handblown glass, including The Planets, but I only have "The Black Hole" and "Pluto" so far. I got Pluto soon after the scientific powers that be decided it was no longer a planet. I figure the studios will stop including it in their collection, so I snatched one up. Here are a couple of my glass vases that sit on our dining room table:Now go check out some other collections at Mariposa's!

those are beautiful.

my dad used to collect eggs, though not just glass. he had every possible kind of decorative egg, even an ostrich egg!! it always made it easy to buy him a gift. i have no idea whatever happened to the collection, though. it disappeared from my parents' house a few years ago.

They are lovely! I have to confess to a hankering for a Faberge egg..just a tad out of my price range I think though!

Wow! That is beautiful glass . I could never collect something like, though. A few too many wagging tails.

I'm going to break into your house and steal those hand blown pots. That's what I collect too.

Those are so pretty. And the planets sound really cool. I can't imagine having glass stuff around with my two monkeys, but when Miss M is a little older I might branch out. :D

the planet of janet - how cool! But a total bummer that the collection is missing...hmmm...a mystery!

aoj & the lurchers - out of my range, too - but definitely a goal to be reached!

celeste - you'll notice that mine are in a protective case - just one wagging tail at my house, but lethal!

jenny, the blogess - girl, you have no more room to collect stuff! But I'm calling ADT, just in case.

jan - even luckier, I didn't have to buy them! Most of the eggs were gifts from my parents!

sayre - I have all sorts of art glass (don't tell jenny) from Southern California artists...just go to Laguna Beach!

jo beaufoix - my monkey is 14, but let me tell ya - I think she and her friends are worse at this age!

I have another blogging friend who collects glass paperweights. Ironically enough, she's also from California. Hmmm...

OOoooo, you collect pretty things. Why didn't I ever do that instead of collecting dumb, cutesty (and often ugly) things? LOL

I also find myself picking up those lovely little glass eggs, and pondering if. I should buy one They are so pretty and shinny, and the weight is just right. The feel in you hand smooth and cold, but than reality strikes and who will dust and clean these little treasures? Not me so I set it back now for others to enjoy.

desert songbird - I can tell ya, the prettiest glass paperweights are found in Cali, for sure!

bond - I am gladly accepting donations to make the collection larger!

chrisb - many thanks!

susan - it's not too late - I didn't start this collection until about 8 years ago!

pamela - I've come VERY close...VERY!

tink - I have a bounty of shells...I may have to share!

alison - I'm jealous - I want to live near a community of glass blowers!

mariposa - thanks for hosting! And I'm always late.

karina - thanks, and if you ever get tired of those eggs, I know where you can send them!
